Ranger Outpost launched today

Ranger Outpost provides a safe, reliable and effective Remote Access solution that enables students and staff to remotely access their work from Futures Community College´s network 24 hours a day.

The Ranger Outpost Explorer application is used to transfer data to and from the user’s work area on their network server. This server could be present on the local network (LAN) or accessed via the Internet from a remote location.

Ranger Outpost Explorer has the ‘look and feel’ of standard Windows utilities such as Windows Explorer or ‘My Computer’ so users will be immediately familiar with its use.

Users can ‘drag and drop’ data files between their network home area and their local machine. Modified or new files can be ‘dragged back’ to be available when the user logs back on to the network.

Ranger Outpost communicates directly with the Outpost communications services on the site’s network server and so all communication of username, password and any data is encrypted and secure.

If you are running Windows Vista on your home PC, you will also need to download and install the following file:

Additionally, it provides a really easy way for students to submit homework or coursework remotely as they can drag and drop a document from their files to a designated folder in your area (OutpostBox) without them gaining access to or even viewing any other files.
